Haryana woman raped by 3 cops at UP farmhouse, all arrested

A 23-year-old woman was lured to Amroha on the pretext of visiting religious places and raped by two UP Police officers and a CRPF personnel at a farmhouse, police said. A fourth man, a CRPF personnel, attempted to rape the woman. All four accused have been arrested.

A 23-year-old woman from Haryana was lured with the promise of visiting religious places in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha and later raped at a farmhouse by three uniformed personnel, while a fourth tried to force himself on her, police said on Wednesday. All four accused – two Uttar Pradesh Police officers and two CRPF personnel – were arrested.

The woman, a resident of Fatehabad, was contacted on September 20 by a female acquaintance who asked her to meet CRPF Inspector Mohit, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, for a visit to religious places in Amroha, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Lakhan Singh Yadav.

She met Mohit in Sonipat on September 21, after which the two travelled to Meerut. There, CRPF Head Constable Lalaram Yadav, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, joined them.

On the evening of September 22, Mohit and Yadav took the woman by car to Hasanpur. On the way, they picked up Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar. The three then took her to a farmhouse on the Atrasi-Hasanpur road and rented two rooms. According to the woman's complaint, police Head Constable Pramod arranged food and liquor for the group at the farmhouse.

The woman alleged that Mohit, Yadav and Tomar raped her one after another. She told police that Pramod later entered the room and attempted to rape her, but she pushed him out and locked the door.

She then searched online for the police helpline number and contacted police around 6 am on Wednesday. Teams from Hasanpur and Rajabpur police stations reached the farmhouse, took her to safety and arrested all four accused.

"Based on the victim's complaint, an FIR has been registered against the four accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abduction or enticement and gangrape. All four have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody," SP Lakhan Singh Yadav said.

Departmental proceedings have been initiated against Sub-Inspector Sanjay Tomar following his suspension, the SP said. A report has also been sent to senior CRPF authorities recommending strict disciplinary action against the two CRPF personnel.

Hasanpur Kotwali in-charge Amar Pal Singh said the farmhouse where the alleged incident took place reportedly belongs to an independent MLA from Uttarakhand. Police have questioned the property's manager and further investigation is underway.

AKHILESH YADAV ATTACKS GOVERNMENT

Reacting to the case, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said on X that when governance is based on crime, the police force also becomes corrupt.

Referring to the Amroha gangrape, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister described it as a "stain" on the police force and demanded "historic action" against those responsible.
