Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav extended all-out support to AAP in Delhi by as he joined former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's road show in the national capital. Kejriwal, in return, thanked his 'param mitra' Akhilesh Yadav who came all the way from Uttar Pradesh.
Kejriwal and Yadav launched an attack on both the BJP and their INDIA bloc ally Congress as they campaigned for Anil Jha, the AAP candidate from Delhi's Kirari Assembly constituency.
Addressing a large gathering of AAP supporters during the road show in Kirari, Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people saying, "Do not press the wrong button (vote for BJP or Congress) on February 5 or your life will be a living hell."
"My param mitra (best friend) Akhilesh ji has come here to meet you, all the way from UP. I thank him from the bottom of my heart," Kejriwal said in the same breath.
Alleging that the BJP and Congress are working in connivance against the AAP, Kejriwal said, "There is ILU-ILU (I love you) going on between the BJP and the Congress in Delhi. If you vote for the Congress, it will benefit the BJP".
The Congress and AAP, who are INDIA bloc partners and fought the 2024 Lok Sabha election together, are running solo in the Delhi Assembly elections.
Kejriwal also claimed that if BJP is voted to power, it will stop all its welfare schemes like free electricity, water, no bus fare for women among others.
Akhilesh Yadav, too, launched a scathing attack on the BJP and urged voters to support the AAP only.
"The zeal and excitement among people tells me that the Aam Aadmi Party is going to convincingly defeat the BJP this election. Their broom symbol is going to sweep off the corruption of the BJP," Akhilesh Yadav said while addressing the crowd.
He appealed to the people to ensure that the AAP gets every single vote from Delhi and that it should not be wasted. The SP chief said that the work that Arvind Kejriwal's party has done for healthcare, education, free electricity and water is a testimony to AAP's dedication for people.
"AAP's work is being commended not only in the country but also earning international acclaim. People are coming to Delhi to study the Kejriwal model of governance," Yadav asserted.
The AAP is eyeing a third consecutive term in Delhi, while the BJP is looking to return to power after a long gap of 27 years.
The 70-member Delhi Assembly will go to polls on February 5, and the results will be announced on February 8.
