A 29-year-old man allegedly died after overdosing on a sex-enhancing drug in Gurugram, police said on Friday.
The victim, identified as Rohit Lal, was a native of Nagpur and worked at the Quality Council of India in New Delhi. He lived in a rented PG flat in Sector 53 area of Gurugram.
According to police, the incident came to light on Thursday morning when Lal’s co-worker alerted authorities. The co-worker said they usually travelled to the office together, but Lal neither answered his phone nor opened the door that day.
Police reached the spot and broke open the door, finding Lal lying dead on the bed. Officers recovered wrappers of some medicines and health supplements from the room.
A senior investigating officer said preliminary findings suggest that Lal had invited his fiance to meet him, but he died before she arrived. Police suspect that he had consumed a sex-enhancing drug, and a possible overdose may have triggered a heart attack.
Police conducted a postmortem and handed over the body to the family. Officials sent the viscera and the recovered medicines to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination.
“The exact cause of death will be revealed only after the viscera report is received. We are investigating all aspects,” Sector 53 SHO Satender Rawal said.
