Arrested over the charges of sedition, Bangaldeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das's bail application was rejected by the Chittagong's Metropolitan Mesgistrate Court. As the police did not seek Chinmay Das's remand, the court sent the Hindu priest to judicial custody, directing that he be granted all religious privileges during his detention.

The Bangladesh Police arrested Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu Das on Monday.

He had organised several rallies in Bangladesh to condemn what the protestors described as "atrocities against fellow devotees."

As he was taken to court earlier today, Das told the media that he earnestly urged Hindus in Bangladesh to continue their planned agitation programs.

On Monday, shortly after Das's arrest, protests erupted in Dhaka and other parts of the country, leaving several people injured.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the President of Pundarik Dham in Bangladesh, was one of the 18 charged with sedition over the hoisting of a saffron flag in Bangladesh.

WHO IS KRISHNA DAS PRABHU?

Krishna Das Prabhu, also known as Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, is a prominent Hindu leader in Bangladesh. A member of the Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatan Jagaran Jote, he has been a vocal advocate for the rights of Hindus in the country.

Brahmachari was previously affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and served as its spokesperson. Through his work with ISKCON, he has frequently raised concerns over the safety and rights of Hindus in Bangladesh, particularly in light of targeted attacks against the community.

In recent months, Krishna Das led a large rally in Chittagong, demanding justice for Hindus and better protection from the Bangladeshi government. This rally, however, attracted controversy.

A case was filed against Brahmachari in October, accusing him of disrespecting Bangladesh’s national flag, news agency AFP reported.
