With the NEET re-exam 2026 just days away, the Centre is tightening preparations to ensure a smooth and secure examination process. Cabinet Secretary Dr T V Somanathan on June 12 reviewed the readiness of the National Testing Agency (NTA) during a meeting with its Director General.
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is scheduled for June 21, and the government says all key stakeholders are working together to ensure the test is conducted without any issues.
The review focused on coordination, security arrangements and measures to maintain confidence in one of India’s biggest medical entrance exams.
FOCUS ON A SMOOTH AND SECURE EXAM
During the meeting, Dr Somanathan stressed the need for a transparent, secure and well-coordinated conduct of the examination. He said the Central Government, state governments and district administrations are working closely to ensure the NEET exam is held smoothly across the country.
He also issued a strong warning against any attempt to interfere with the process, saying:
“The full might and weight of the law will fall on any person trying in any manner to distort, disrupt or tamper with the integrity or smooth conduct of the re-examination.”
SERIES OF REVIEW MEETINGS HELD
The latest meeting is part of a wider effort by the government to monitor preparations for the NEET re-examination.
On June 1, the Cabinet Secretary reviewed arrangements with Secretaries of the Central Government and other relevant agencies.
This was followed by another meeting on June 4 with Chief Secretaries of state governments to assess preparedness and the progress of arrangements on the ground.
COORDINATION REMAINS THE KEY PRIORITY
According to the government, these review meetings are aimed at strengthening coordination among agencies, improving preparedness and ensuring the credibility of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam.
The focus remains on conducting the examination in a secure and organised manner while maintaining public confidence in the process.
As the June 21 examination date approaches, the Centre and the NTA continue to work with state and district authorities to ensure that candidates can appear for the test without disruption.
