Security forces kill 1 terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam, AK rifle recovered

Security forces killed one terrorist during a joint search operation in Budgam's Ashdar Gali after an exchange of fire. The Army said an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered, and the search was still underway.

One terrorist was neutralised and an AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered during a joint search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, the Indian Army said.

The operation was launched in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam based on specific intelligence input. The search was jointly conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The information was shared by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, the Army formation responsible for operations in the Kashmir Valley, through a post on X.

TROOPS OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

According to the Chinar Corps, troops involved in the operation observed suspicious activity in the area. When the suspected terrorists were challenged, they opened fire on the security forces.

The firing triggered a fierce exchange of gunfire between the terrorists and the security forces. During the exchange, one terrorist was neutralised, the Army said.

An AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered following the encounter.

SEARCH OPERATION STILL UNDERWAY

The Army said the search operation in Ashdar Gali was still in progress.

The joint operation was launched after the security forces received specific intelligence about suspected terrorist activity in the area.
