EAM Jaishankar set to tour six nations of West Asia from today

New Delhi: The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to begin his six nation tour from today onwards. The tour will continue till July 15.

The visit is crucial to reinforce ties in West Asia. The visit will push for a seat on the UN Security Council and aims to strengthen trade and technology ties with the European Union.

First the EAM will focus on the gulf region and have meetings with the leadership and foreign ministers of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, as per reports.

The meeting will cover topics like bilateral ties, regional matters and issues of common interest, while New Delhi reiterated its support for dialogue and stability in the region.

India will be launching campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028-29 term on July 13 during EAM’s visit to New York.

The move marks the beginning India’s diplomatic push for the election. New Delhi is seeking broader global support for its bid while also calling for reforms in international institutions.

Lastly, during External Affairs Minister’s visit to Brussels on July 14 and 15, there will be discussion on expanding cooperation in trade, technology, connectivity and strategic affairs.
