Bombay High Court waives off mandatory cooling period of 6 months in divorce of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal

The Bombay High Court waived off the cooling period of 6 months in the divorce case of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. The Bombay HC while hearing the case allowed the couple to forgo the cooling period of 6 months prior to their separation.
The court directed the family court to decide the case of Yuzvendra Chahal and estranged wife Dhanashree Verma by March 20. This was done keeping in view the cricketer’s participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL)2025 season from March 22.The couple was living separately for the past 18 months prior to making this decision.
The cricketer and Verma had filed a divorce plea in a family court here on February 5 this year. They had submitted a petition mutually seeking for the cooling off period be waived as their divorce was by mutual consent.
