Naba Das murder case: BJP members targeting my family only because of political motives, will write for CBI probe
by Subadh Nayak · KalingaTVJharsuguda: In a fresh development related to the sensational yet controversial murder case of former Odisha Health Minister Naba Das, his daughter and former Jharsuguda MLA Dipali Das today said that she would write to Odisha Chief Minister seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into her father’s death case.
While speaking to the media persons, Dipali said, “They (BJP members) have been raising my father’s murder case and are targeting my family only because of their political motives and benefits. Initially, they claimed that I am not demanding for the CBI probe. Some BJP-oriented media houses have been defaming my family and targeting me personally, but when I expressed my desire for a CBI probe into the matter, now they are saying me to place the demand in writing.”
“I am scared of the government as I detained my brother illegally for 13 hours and if they have so much concern and love for my father and family, we will definitely write for a CBI probe into the matter and it depends on the CM to take the final decision,” she added.
Meanwhile, senior Advocate Manas Mohapatra explained the legal process through which the deceased politician’s family members can file a petition for a CBI probe into his murder case. “Charge-sheet in the case has been filed. Even hearings of the witnesses also have been completed and now the trial of the case is underway. There is no time for protest petition. However, only the family members of Naba Das, either his son or daughter or wife can demand for it at the trail court. However, the trial court has no power to order for reinvestigation of the case. Subsequently, the petition will be rejected, following which the family members can move the Orissa High Court, which if wants can order for a CBI probe into the matter,” Mohapatra informed.
