Fakir Mohan College principal Dilip Ghosh arrested

Balasore: Dilip Ghosh, the Suspended principal of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore district was arrested by Sahadevkhunta police in connection with the tragic incident of the institute’s girl student who attempted self-immolation after being harassed by an Assistant professor of the college.
The Odisha Higher Education Department had earlier suspended him for reportedly delaying to take action even though the 20-year-old girl student repeatedly requested him.
As informed by the Higher Education Department, the Fakir Mohan College principal was arrested based on the interim reports of the high-level committee constituted by the department to probe the case.
It is to be noted here that the committee formed under the chairmanship of Director of Higher Education Department Kali Prasanna Mohapatra went to college yesterday and submitted a preliminary report after investigation.
The family members of the girl, who is still undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar in a critical condition, had been demanding the arrest of the Fakir Mohan College principal.
Earlier, police had arrested Assistant professor Samir Kumar Sahu, the HoD of Education Department, the prime accused of the case.
It is to be noted here that the B.Ed student attempted self-immolation after actions were not taken against Samir Kumar Sahu, against whom she had leveled serious allegation of demanding sexual favour from her.
