New-Delhi: In a tragic incident, eight crew members were killed after B-52 crashes shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in southern California.
The incident occurred at 11:20 local time (19:20 GMT) on Monday while the aircraft had been on a routine test mission.
The aircraft carrying a mix of military personnel and government contractors, crashed within moments of becoming airborne and erupted into flames near the runway.
The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims, saying families were still being notified.

The emergency crews responded immediately to the crash involving the airctaft.
The deceased crew members was a mix of military officials, government civilians and government contractors.
Following the accident, Edwards Air Force Base temporarily shut down flight operations, diverting inbound aircraft while emergency personnel secured the crash site.
