Attack on Pranab Balabantaray: Accused to Be Arrested Within 48 Hours, Assures Jajpur SP, Watch

Jajpur: The accused persons involved in the alleged attack on BJD leader and former Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantaray will be arrested within 48 hours, Jajpur Superintendent of Police Yash Pratap Shrimal has assured.

According to reports, an FIR has been registered in connection with the attack on the former MLA’s vehicle. Police are examining CCTV footage and mobile phone videos to identify those involved in the incident.

The Jajpur SP assured that the accused would be apprehended within 48 hours. Following the assurance, BJD leaders and workers reportedly called off their protest and withdrew from the dharna.

Meanwhile, BJD president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik strongly criticised the state government and police over the alleged attack on Balabantaray.

Patnaik questioned the law and order situation in the state, asking why the government and police remained silent when a public representative was allegedly attacked in broad daylight.

The BJD president had earlier termed the incident “highly condemnable” and demanded stringent action against those involved.
