Don't allow any unconstitutional, anti-national resolution: BJP to Speaker in all-party meeting

Jammu, Feb 27: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Thursday demanded that the Speaker shouldn’t allow any unconstitutional or anti- national resolution or bill during the upcoming budget session of J&K Legislative Assembly commencing from March 03.

BJP senior leader Sunil Kumar Sharma told KNO that they wouldn’t allow any unconstitutional, undemocratic and anti-national resolution, question or any bill in the House.

“During the all-party meet we urged the speaker that he shouldn’t allow any such activity and run the House impartially,” he said.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather chaired an all-party meeting on Thursday to seek cooperation from all political parties for smooth functioning of the House during the budget session.

Sources told KNO that the speaker urged members to ensure that question hour is not disrupted which, he said, is important for holding the government accountable.

They said the participants urged the speaker that they should be given adequate time to raise issues of public.

MLA Rajouri Muzaffar Iqbal Khan told KNO that the meeting discussed means to ensure smooth functioning of the House.

“There was agreement among all parties that there wouldn’t be disruptions and it would be ensured that executive is accountable to legislature,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Sunil Sharma and Surjit Singh Salathia of the BJP, Mubarak Gul of NC, Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Congress, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami from the CPI(M), Waheed-ur-Rehman Para of PDP, and independent MLA Muzaffar Iqbal Khan.

Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone and National Conference leader Ali Muhammad Sagar didn’t attend the meeting.
