Minor blast reported near railway track in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib, no damage

New Delhi, Jan 24: A minor blast was reported near a railway track close to Khanpur village in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district on Friday night, with no major damage to the train or the tracks, ANI reported. According to the police, the incident occurred around 9.50 pm and the intensity of the blast was low. “The driver suffered a minor cut on his cheek. The train didn’t suffer any major damage. The track didn’t suffer any major damage either. Train movement will resume soon,” police officials said, as quoted by ANI.

Ropar Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nanak Singh said the incident was being investigated thoroughly.

“We received information that around 9.50 pm at night, a minor blast has been reported here. The intensity of the blast was very low. It wasn’t a major blast, just a minor one,” he said. He added that Punjab Police are probing the matter in a scientific manner and are in coordination with other agencies. “Forensics and teams of other agencies have been called here. Specialised agencies are also coming here. This case will be solved soon and the accused will be arrested soon,” the DIG said, ANI reported. Police personnel remain deployed at the spot as investigations continue.
