Encounter breaks out in Dachigam forests in Srinagar - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 03: An encounter broke out in the Dachigam forests in Srinagar early Tuesday, police said.

A police spokesman said that joint parties of security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the upper reaches of Dachigam forest based on a specific intelligence input.

He said the gunfight broke out after forces zeroed in on the suspected spot.

A top police official said a body has been spotted in the forest area, but the identity is yet to be ascertained.

“A body is lying in the upper reaches of Dachigam forests. But it will take some time to confirm the identity,” the official said.
