New Delhi, Aug 1: At least 28 people, including three children, were killed and over 150 injured after a major Russian missile and drone assault struck Kyiv early Thursday. The attacks caused widespread destruction, including the collapse of a residential apartment block, damage to schools, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure.

Ukraine’s air force reported intercepting many of the 309 drones and eight cruise missiles launched, but several penetrated defences, causing significant casualties and structural damage across multiple districts.

The strikes mark the most intense bombardment of Kyiv since US President Donald Trump advanced his ceasefire deadline for Russia.
