Three terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in Shopian

Srinagar, May 13: Three terrorists have been killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in the Shukroo Keller forest area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, police said.

A police official told Greater Kashmir that the encounter broke out after the police and security forces launched a search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists.

He said the encounter broke out after the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces.

As per initial reports, he said, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.

Another official said that as per initial reports three militants have been killed in the gunfight. He said the bodies have been recovered from the site of the gunfight. “Two of them are foreigners while one is a local terrorist.” he added.
