Former US vice-president Dick Cheney dies aged 84
by GK Web Desk · Greater KashmirNew Delhi, Nov 04: Dick Cheney, the former US Republican vice-president, has died aged 84, according to a statement from his family.
Cheney served during the presidency of George W Bush between 2001 and 2009, and was an influential figure in the Republican party, including in the decisions to invade Afghanistan and Iraq in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
His family said on Tuesday that Cheney died from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.
“For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming’s Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and vice-president of the United States . . . We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country,” the statement said.
