In the latest development, the Bombay High Court allowed a plea filed by Chahal and Dhanashree requesting to waive the cooling-off period of six months stipulated under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act for a divorce decree.
There were also many speculations about the alimony amount that Chahal had to pay to Dhanashree. On February 5, Chahal and Dhanashree filed a joint petition in the family court seeking divorce. On February 20, the family court denied the couple’s request for the cooling-off period to be exempted. But now, the Bombay High Court allowed their plea. The magistrate also ordered the family court to decide the divorce petition by tomorrow, considering Chahal’s participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
Chahal will be representing Punjab Kings in this IPL. He was bought by the franchise for a whopping Rs. 18 crores.
