Woman dies after Nottingham Lower Parliament street bus crash in 'tragic' incident

A woman has died after being hit by a bus on a busy road in Nottingham city centre. Emergency services were called to Lower Parliament Street at 6.05am on Tuesday, October 22 following reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.

The woman, who was in her 30s, was treated at the scene but died a short time later, Nottinghamshire Police said. A huge police cordon remains in place between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street while investigation work takes place and will remain closed for some time.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area. Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher said: “This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.

“The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.” Additional witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident 72 of 22 October 2024.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said there are "severe delays" to its services due to the incident, resulting in several temporary stop changes.
