Man appears in Nottingham court charged with eight counts of child rape

A man charged with eight counts of raping a child has appeared at a court in Nottingham. David Tilley, of no fixed abode, has also been charged with sexual assault.

Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 4, the 27-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He was told he will face trial at Nottingham Crown Court on May 2.

All of the alleged offences took place between October 2021 and March 2024 and include the alleged rape of a girl as young as 13 years old. Tilley is also accused of sexual assault against a girl who was 12 years old at the time.

The defendant was granted conditional bail, which requires Tilley to avoid visited a number of addresses, including a school.
