Palace denies road harassment involving 'presidential son'
by Ian Laqui · philstarMANILA, Philippines — Malacañang denied reports of an alleged road harassment incident involving a “presidential son” along the North Luzon Expressway on Saturday, February 21.
In a message to reporters, Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez said there was no such incident involving any son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
“There is no such incident involving any presidential son,” Gomez said.
The president has three sons. The eldest, Sandro, 31, is the majority floor leader in the the lower house. He is followed by Simon, 30, and Vincent, 28.
Circulating claims
Social media posts claimed that a three-car motorcade intercepted a vehicle transporting the president’s son shortly after 7 p.m.
The accounts alleged that around 15 individuals, riding in vehicles reportedly traced to a town in Bulacan, stepped out to confront members of the security detail.
The confrontation was said to have occurred after the presidential vehicle overtook cars that were allegedly spanning three lanes of the highway and blocking traffic.
A purported show-cause order also circulated online, claiming that the vehicles involved in the alleged road rage incident were registered to the Provincial Government of Bulacan.
Philstar.com has sought verification from the Land Transportation Office regarding the authenticity of the alleged show-cause order. The agency has yet to respond.
