US military intercepts Iran attack drones over Strait of Hormuz
by By The News Digital · The News InternationalThe United States military said it intercepted and destroyed multiple Iranian one-way attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, as tensions in the region continue to rise.
US Central Command, known as CENTCOM, announced in a post on X that Iran had launched several drones aimed at disrupting commercial shipping near the strategically important waterway.

According to CENTCOM, US forces “have downed all of them in recent hours as traffic flow through the strait continues unimpeded.”
“The international trade corridor remains open for transit,” CENTCOM added.
CENTCOM did not provide details on the number of drones intercepted or whether any ships were directly targeted during the incident.
There was no immediate response from Iranian authorities regarding the US claims.
This comes as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Friday that a deal to permanently end the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has “never been closer”.
