The blast at a mosque inside a school complex in Jakarta occurred during Friday prayers.

Dozens of people were hospitalized on Friday after an explosion at a mosque within a school complex in Indonesia's capital Jakarta, police said.

At least 54 people were injured in the blast, local police chief Asep Edi Suheri said.

"Some have minor injuries, some moderate, and some have already been discharged," Asep said, adding that some had sustained burns.

Police have not disclosed the cause of the explosion, which occurred in the Kelapa Gading district of North Jakarta.
