There are reports of at least 5 deaths following a blast outside a district court in the Pakistani capital.

Local and international media agencies in Pakistan on Tuesday reported an explosion outside a district court building in the capital Islamabad.

It's not yet clear just how many people have been killed or injured, but the Associated Press cited state-run broadcaster Pakistan TV, which said at least five people have died and another 13 others have been wounded.

Witnesses told AFP news agency that the blast appeared to have taken place near a gate of the court complex.

"As I parked my car and entered the complex... I heard a loud bang," lawyer Rustam Malik told AFP after the blast.

"It was complete chaos, lawyers and people were running inside the complex. I saw two dead bodies lying on the gate and several cars were on fire," Malik said.
