Trump's 'Vladimir, STOP!' Plea Is Making People Face-Palm On Social Media

· Yahoo News

Donald Trump’s attempt to get Vladimir Putin to stop the killing in Kyiv, Ukraine, seems to have been ignored by the Russian president.

It’s also made Trump a worldwide object of ridicule on social media.

The overnight attack on the Ukrainian capital killed at least 12 people and injured about 90, according to The Associated Press.

After news of the attack broke globally, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to tell Putin to cease the attack:

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”

Although Trump possibly thought sending a message to a fellow world leader on his own social media platform was the height of global statesmanship, Putin hadn’t responded to Trump’s fiery post as of Thursday afternoon.

However, many people on social media did, and most thought Trump’s post was whiny and ineffectual ― especially since the attack on Kyiv came after the president predicted a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

Although many people are skeptical that Putin will stop bombing because Trump asked him to, the president doubled down when a reporter asked if he thought the post would really work.
