NFL Announcer Calls Out Republicans After Charlie Kirk Shooting
· Yahoo NewsGenerate Key Takeaways
In the aftermath of the fatal shooting of political commentator Charlie Kirk, tons of news and media outlets have been talking about it and what it may mean for the future of the country. But some have had suggestions for what comes next that a lot of people don't appreciate. One such person is NFL announcer Nate Burleston.
Appearing on CBS Mornings, Burleson sent a message to Republican politicians, calling on them to "reflect on political violence" and think about how "misinformation or disinformation" becomes political violenec.
"Speaking of this tragedy, is this a moment for your party to reflect on political violence, is it a moment for us to think about the responsibility of our political leaders and their voices and what it does to the masses as they get lost in misinformation or disinformation that turns in and spills in to political violence?"
As you might expect, Republicans were appalled by Burleson's implication that they are in any way responsible for the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder.
Backlash
People who saw the clip ranging from general users on social media to media outlets have condemned Burleson over his comment, calling him everything from "unhinged" or "vile" to a slew of other things:

"Sickening," one user replied.
"The media doesn’t get to tell anyone, regardless of who they are, what to say, when to say it, especially on this hallowed day! They have no standing to dictate anything to anyone on anything. Their one job is to tell their audience what happened, when it happened, who it happened to and what the authorities have to say. That’s it. We don’t want to hear what they think about it, or who they think is to blame, or what they think should be done. That’s it. Report, then STFU!" another demanded.
"Disgusting," wrote a third.
"Nate Burleson is the epitome of a people pleaser, he wants people to think he is a good person so badly," another remarked.

Suffice it to say, fans and supporters of Charlie Kirk aren't interested in hearing Burleson - or anyone else - criticize them over the man's violent death.
