While a person of interest was previously detained on Sunday, Dec. 14, they were released after there was a lack of evidence connecting them to the shooting.
However, law enforcement released better images and video on Dec. 15 of the subject, as well as some additional information about the tragedy, like the weapon that was used.
What was the weapon used in the Brown University shooting?
The Brown University shooter targeted the university and used a 9mm firearm, Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez said at a 5 p.m. press conference at the Providence Public Safety Complex on Dec. 15.
Perez said that the perpetrator fired several rounds from the small caliber weapon.
