A four-storey building came crashing down early Thursday morning in Gali No. 5 of Janata Colony, Welcome area, in Delhi’s Seelampur, triggering a frantic rescue operation. According to the Delhi Fire Department, the structure stood on a compact 30–35 square yard plot and collapsed around 7 am. Emergency teams, including police and fire services, were immediately dispatched to the site.
Locals Join Hands with Rescue Teams in Seelampur
The Delhi Fire Service confirmed that seven fire tenders have been deployed to aid in the ongoing operations. Eyewitnesses reported chaos as residents, upon hearing the loud crash, rushed to help victims before authorities arrived.
Local residents have also joined the rescue efforts, assisting officials in clearing debris and searching for those who may still be trapped.

Officials suspect that several individuals may be stuck under the debris. “We have received a call regarding a building collapse at 7 am. Multiple teams are working, including seven fire tenders. Further information is awaited,” a fire department officer said.
Eight people have been rescued so far from the collapse site, with seven of them shifted to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital for treatment, and one critically injured individual referred to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.
Rescue operations remain underway as emergency teams continue to search for anyone who may still be trapped under the debris. Authorities are working in coordination with fire services, police, and local volunteers to ensure a swift and safe operation.
Man Killed as Three-Storey Building Collapses in Delhi’s Bara Hindu Rao
In a tragic incident, a 46-year-old man lost his life after a three-storey commercial building collapsed in Delhi’s Bara Hindu Rao area early Friday morning, officials confirmed.
The victim, identified as Manoj Sharma, was employed at one of the shops operating within the building. He was trapped beneath the debris following the collapse and was later pulled out by rescue teams. Despite efforts to save him, Sharma was declared dead at Hindu Rao Hospital.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh for the bereaved family.
Authorities noted that the site of the collapse falls within the influence zone of tunnelling work currently underway for the Janakpuri West–RK Ashram Marg corridor of the Delhi Metro. Investigations are underway to assess whether the ongoing metro construction played a role in the structural failure.
