Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday held a telephone call with Donald Trump to discuss the details of the US President's conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The president of Ukraine is having a conversation by telephone with US President Donald Trump," Zelensky's spokesman Sergiy Nykyforov said, according to news agency AFP.

Trump said he had a "very good telephone call" with Zelensky lasted an hour, their first conversation since an Oval Office meeting descended into a shouting match on February 28.

Speaking after the conversation, US President Donald Trump said, "Just completed a very good telephone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. It lasted approximately one hour. Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs. We are very much on track, and I will ask Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, to give an accurate description of the points discussed. That Statement will be put out shortly."

The call between the two world leaders comes a day after the US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke for over two hours to discuss the 30-day ceasefire proposal in Ukraine.

The two leaders agreed to pause attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine even as Russia said that a pause in foreign aid to Ukraine would be a key element to any peace agreement.

Zelensky had said that even though he supports a 30-day truce in attacks on energy infrastructure but he needed more details before Kyiv is fully on board.

Zelenskiy said that the continued attacks showed Moscow's words did not match its actions, and that Russia was not ready for peace. He said the United States should be put in charge of monitoring any ceasefire.
