A major suicide bombing targeted Pakistani security forces and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the city of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At approximately 4:00 PM, a suicide bomber drove a vehicle packed with high explosives into the "Aman Mela" checkpost located in the Darazinda area. The vehicle detonated upon impact, inflicting severe structural damage and heavy casualties among personnel deployed at the post.
High Casualty Toll
At least 11 personnel from the Pakistan Army and CTD were killed in the explosion, while 30 others sustained injuries. Local emergency services, led by Rescue 1122 teams, responded to the site and transported the wounded including several civilian bystanders, women, and children to the Category D Hospital in Darazinda for urgent medical treatment.

TTP Claims Responsibility
The banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) publicly claimed responsibility for the suicide strike. Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, condemned the attack and offered deep condolences to the families of the deceased and injured. Naqvi reaffirmed the state's resolve, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains on the frontlines of the nation's ongoing battle against terrorism.
Surge in Militant Violence
This suicide bombing marks another severe escalation in targeted attacks against CTD and military installations across the province. The attack follows a strike on September 18 in Kohat, where the group Ittehad-e-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP) targeted a CTD compound and mosque during Friday prayers, resulting in 31 fatalities. Security forces have cordoned off the Darazinda sector as search operations continue.
