‘Stop Migration, Provide Jobs’: Rahul Gandhi To Join Youth Congress March In Bihar’s Begusarai Tomorrow

Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will visit Bihar’s Begusarai on April 7 to join a youth-led march under the campaign ‘Roko Palayan, Do Naukri’ (Stop Migration, Provide Jobs), ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled for September-October this year.

In a video message posted on X on Sunday, Rahul said, “Young friends of Bihar, I will be coming to Begusarai on April 7th to join you in the ‘Roko Palayan, Do Naukri’ campaign, walking shoulder to shoulder with you. The goal is to show the world the spirit of Bihar’s youth, their struggles, and their hardships.”

He urged the youth to wear white t-shirts and raise their voices to hold the state government accountable. “Come wearing a White T-Shirt, ask questions, raise your voice—to put pressure on the government for your rights, to hold them accountable. Let’s come together and make Bihar a state of opportunities,” he said.

Highlighting the key issues behind the campaign, Rahul added, “The issues you face—unemployment, inflation, paper leaks, and the reduction in government jobs one after another, along with privatisation that doesn’t benefit you—are the reasons we are on this campaign. This is called the ‘Palayan Yatra’. Come and join us wearing a white t-shirt so that the world can see the emotions of Bihar’s youth and put pressure on the Bihar government. We want to mobilise the energy of Bihar’s youth and build a new Bihar.”

National President of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Varun Chaudhary, stated that after being informed about the struggles of thousands of youth in Bihar—particularly issues like paper leaks, unemployment, and the Agnipath scheme—Rahul Gandhi expressed his willingness to stand with the youth and participate in the march, news agency IANS reported.

Rahul Gandhi’s itinerary for Monday includes:

• 08:10–09:50: Flight from Delhi to Patna
• 10:10–10:40: Helicopter journey from Patna to Begusarai
• 11:00–11:30: Participation in the ‘Stop Migration, Provide Jobs’ march
• 11:45–12:15: Return to Patna
• 13:00–14:15: Address at the 'Samvidhan Bachao' Conference at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna
• 14:45–15:45: Interaction with senior leaders and district Congress presidents at Sadaqat Ashram
• 16:35–18:15: Return flight from Patna to Delhi

'Rahul Gandhi Is Coming To Create Confusion': Union Minister Giriraj Singh

However, the announcement of the visit drew criticism from Union Minister and Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh, who accused Rahul Gandhi of attempting to mislead the youth. “Rahul Gandhi should do atonement. The family from which he comes ruled for 60 years and drowned the country. PM Modi is rescuing it. It is a small thing that 25 crore people came out of poverty. Indira Gandhi gave a slogan of ‘garibi hatao’, she came to power, but the poor continued to be poor,” Singh said.

“Today, poor are getting LPG cylinders, homes, toilets, electricity, Jan Dhan accounts. EPFO numbers were only 13 crore; today, it is more than 30 crore, including both white-collar and blue-collar workers. Today the definition of employment has changed. Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, more than 8 lakh people have got government jobs. Rahul Gandhi is coming to create confusion,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, addressing a press conference in Patna on Saturday, opposed the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, vowing to revoke it if his party returns to power. “We will form the government and throw this (Waqf Amendment Bill) in the dustbin,” Yadav said.

He also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would continue its alliance with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar only until the assembly elections. “BJP will keep Nitish Kumar with them until the elections. After that, both we and the people of Bihar know very well what will happen to him,” he remarked.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed after extended sessions in Parliament, with the Rajya Sabha clearing it past midnight on Thursday by 128 votes in favour and 95 against. The Lok Sabha passed it a day earlier, with 288 members voting in favour and 232 opposing.
