One Dead After Clash Between Inmates At Delhi's Saket Court

A violent fight erupted between two inmates within the Saket Court lockup in Delhi on Wednesday morning.

A violent altercation broke out between two inmates inside the lockup of Delhi’s Saket Court, resulting in the death of one prisoner. Two other inmates inside the Saket Court lockup have killed an inmate named Aman, according to news agency ANI, quoting police. Both of them were lodged inside Tihar Jail No. 8 and were brought to Saket Court for court proceedings.

“An inmate, Aman has been killed by two other inmates inside Saket Court lockup. They both were lodged in Tihar jail no 8 and were brought to Saket Court for court proceedings,” Delhi Police said as quoted by news agency ANI.

"An incident of assault took place on 5th June in Kharja No. 5 of Saket Court Lock-up. One Aman was brought to the lock-up for production before the Court. At the time of the incident, a lot of undertrial prisoners (UTPs), including the deceased Aman were present inside the said Kharja," Delhi Police said.

The police said that two UTPs, Jitender and Jaidev, assaulted the victim and that old animosity between them due to an incident of assault happened in 2024 when they both were outside the jail. Aman, according to the police, had allegedly assaulted Jitender and his brother with a knife in the incident.
