The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has hit back at Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan over his remarks on the Hindi language row in Tamil Nadu, accusing him of hypocrisy and ignorance about the state's political history. DMK leader TKS Elangovan dismissed Kalyan’s comments, stating that Tamil Nadu has opposed Hindi imposition since 1938 and follows a two-language formula based on expert advice—not opinions of actors.
DMK’s Response To Pawan Kalyan’s Statement
On the statement of Andhra Pradesh DCM Pawan Kalyan, DMK leader TKS Elangovan told ANI, "We have been opposing Hindi since 1938...We had passed legislation in the state assembly that Tamil Nadu will always follow the two-language formula because of the advice and suggestions of the experts in education, not actors... The bill was passed way back in 1968 when Pawan Kalyan was not even born."
Further, the DMK leader said that AP DCM does not know the politics of Tamil Nadu.
"This is not the first time we have opposed Hindi because we feel that education in the mother tongue is the best way of training people...He (Pawan Kalyan) wants to somehow support the BJP so that he can gain something out of the BJP government," he said.

Pawan Kalyan’s Remarks On ‘Hypocrisy’ In Tamil Nadu
Pawan Kalyan, who also leads the Jana Sena Party (JSP), recently criticised Tamil Nadu politicians for what he called "hypocrisy" in their stance against Hindi. He pointed out that while these leaders oppose Hindi politically, they allow Tamil films to be dubbed in Hindi for financial gains.
His statement comes amid ongoing debates over the alleged imposition of Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking states, a long-standing issue in Tamil Nadu’s politics.
