An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces during an anti-terror operation in the forest area of Gudar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam, officials said on Monday. A terrorist was killed and an army jawan was injured in the gunfight.

According to the Indian Army's Chinar Corps, a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries in the encounter. The operation is underway.

"Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress," Chinar Corps wrote on X.

The security forces launched a search operation in the Gudar forest area after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the region. The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened firing at the positions of security forces, news agency PTI reported citing officials.

"Based on specific intelligence, an encounter has started in the Guddar forest of the Kulgam. SOG of J&K Police, Army, and CRPF on the job. Further details to follow," Kashmir Zone Police stated in a post on X.

Pak Intruder Nabbed Along IB In Jammu

A Pakistani intruder was arrested along the International Border in Jammu's R S Pura sector, officials told PTI on Monday.

The intruder, identified as Siraj Khan from Sargodha in Pakistan's Punjab province, was noticed by Border Security Force (BSF) troops manning the Octroi outpost at around 9:20 PM on Sunday.

After challenging the intruder, the security troops fired a few rounds at him, following which he was subsequently arrested near the border fence. Officials said that some Pakistani currency notes were also recovered from him.

An interrigation is underway to ascertain his motive behind trying to sneak into Indian territory.
