The Congress has said that the "united" Opposition platform — Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) — was only for the Lok Sabha elections and doesn't exist anymore. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said: "The INDIA bloc was indeed formed for the Lok Sabha elections and operates at the national level. For regional elections, parties decide among themselves whether to fight jointly or solo.

Earlier on Wednesday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had said that it had been decided by the 'allies' that the INDIA bloc would be created only for Lok Sabha elections.

Soon after his remark, the BJP targeted the Opposition saying this was expected. Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, "We had already said earlier that they all came together due to the fear of PM Modi."

Bihar government minister Shravan Kumar said: "Their alliance is an alliance of self-interest. It is an alliance for personal gain. Their alliance is for achieving private agendas. Once those agendas are fulfilled, the matter will be over. Their alliance is not for the progress of the country or peace and harmony in the nation"
