A Meerut court has convicted Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla in the murder of Saurabh Rajput, in the case widely known as the ‘Blue Drum’ case. The court found both accused guilty after a trial that lasted around 19 months. The verdict was delivered while the two appeared through video conference. However, the court has deferred the sentencing and fixed October 14 for announcing the punishment. The case has involved 126 hearings and 22 witnesses since the arrests of the two accused in March 2025.

126 Hearings, 22 Witnesses

During the hearing, the judge asked Muskan how she felt on the day of the verdict, noting that the court had completed its task of deciding the case.

The judge also observed that such crimes create an atmosphere of fear in society. The court made it clear that the punishment would be decided at a separate hearing on October 14.

The trial followed the arrest of Muskan and Sahil after Saurabh’s body was recovered from a blue drum at his Meerut home in March 2025.

Sentence On October 14

Saurabh’s family has sought the maximum possible punishment for the two convicts. His relatives have said they would continue their legal fight up to the Supreme Court if they do not receive the punishment they are seeking.

Saurabh’s brother Rahul has previously said the family has been seeking justice since the beginning of the case.

According to the prosecution’s case, Saurabh, who worked in the Merchant Navy, returned to Meerut from London in February 2025. He celebrated his birthday with his family on February 25, while his daughter’s birthday was observed on February 28.

On March 3, Muskan allegedly gave Saurabh sleeping medication before Sahil was called to the house. Police allege that the two then killed him.

On March 17, she returned from Shimla and went to her maternal home, where she reportedly told family members about Saurabh.

Police reached Saurabh’s house on March 18 and recovered his body from a blue drum. Muskan and Sahil were arrested the same day.

The court will now decide the sentence on October 14, 14 days after the conviction.
