The mother of Haryana Congress worker, Himani Narwal, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Rohtak on Saturday claimed that the ongoing civic polls in the state and the party claimed her life.

Savita, the mother of the deceased Congress worker suspected that she could have been killed by someone within the party out of jealousy as she was being recognised in the party forging close ties with Rahul Gandhi and the Hooda family.

"...Election and party claimed my daughter's life. She made some enemies due to that. These (perpetrators) could be even from the party, they could be her friends too...," said the mother while speaking to ANI.

On Saturday, when her body was found, Savita said her daughter had not left the home. The family received a phone call from the police station regarding the incident.

Himani's mother further said that she would not perform the last rites of her daughter until she got justice. She also said that Himani was "very close" to Asha Hooda, wife of former Haryana C Bhupinder Singh Hooda. "I had called up Asha Hooda in the morning but my phone call was not received," she said.

Himani's younger brother Jatin said she had undertaken Padyatra with Rahul Gandhi.

Himani's Wanted Job, Agreed To Get Married

Speaking to reporters, Savita said after the elections, Himani became a little disillusioned with the party and said she wanted a job. "She didn't want to work much for the party," the mother said.

"She was associated with Congress for the past 10 years. She had also agreed to get married. She was pursuing an LL.B," the mother added.

She also said that her elder son, Himani's elder brother was killed in 2011 and she did not feel injustice even then. "We lived in fear," she said, adding that due to a family dispute, she took her younger son to a BSF camp so that he could stay away from the feud.
