The rescue teams working inside the collapsed SLBC tunnel in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana have recovered one body inside the tunnel.
The rescuers said that the dead body of one of the workers was stuck in the machine and the teams are currently cutting the machine to retrieve the body.
The rescue teams have been working to save eight people trapped for over two weeks after a part of the SLBC tunnel collapsed in Nagarkurnool district on February 22.
"We found one dead body stuck in the machine, with only the hand visible. The rescue teams are currently cutting the machine to retrieve the stuck body," an official said.
The rescuers were involved in cutting parts of the tunnel boring machine and other obstacles hindering their access to the area where the victims were believed to be stuck.
The rescue operation has been going on amid challenging conditions, including slush and seepage of water.
The cadaver dogs were deployed to locate human presence on Friday identified two possible spots for human presence and the rescue personnel have been removing the silt at those locations. The cadaver dogs of the Kerala police joined the operation on Friday morning with rescue teams taking the canines inside the tunnel. The dogs are trained to locate missing humans and human bodies.

Eight personnel working on the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel project were trapped after a portion of the tunnel collapsed on February 22.
The trapped persons have been identified as Manoj Kumar (UP), Sri Niwas (UP), Sunny Singh (J&K), Gurpreet Singh (Punjab) and Sandeep Sahu, Jegta Xess, Santosh Sahu and Anuj Sahau, all from Jharkhand.
Of the eight, two are engineers, two are operators and the remaining four are labourers from Jharkhand. The two engineers and four labourers are working for Jaiprakash Associates, the contracting firm of SLBC tunnel project.
