BSF Assistant Sub-Inspector Shoots Himself Dead in Jammu Camp

JAMMU, June 14: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly died by suicide inside a BSF camp on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday, officials said.

The deceased, identified as ASI Lal Singh, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was posted at the BSF campus in Paloura. Officials said he used his service rifle to shoot himself inside the camp in the morning.

Senior BSF and police officers rushed to the spot after receiving information. The body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination.

Authorities have initiated an inquest to ascertain the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

According to preliminary information, Singh had rejoined his unit on June 13 after availing nearly one month of leave, officials added. (Agencies)
