Hoshiarpur, Apr 20: Punjab Police on Monday busted an inter-state, foreign-linked narcotics and illegal arms module, arresting four persons and recovering over 9 kg of heroin along with weapons and ammunition.

According to police, 9.925 kg of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines and 40 live cartridges were seized during the operation.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the accused were acting as local handlers for foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and illegal arms supply.

He termed the operation a major breakthrough, adding that the arrests have helped uncover a larger network operating across regions.

Police said a case has been registered at Garhshankar police station, and further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network.
