7 Dead After Explosion at EV Charging Point Sparks House Fire in Indore
by Northlines · NorthlinesINDORE, Mar 18: Seven people were killed early Wednesday when an explosion at an electric vehicle (EV) charging point outside a three-storey house in Brajeshwari Annex Colony, Indore, triggered a massive fire, officials said. Cooking gas cylinders inside the house also exploded, intensifying the blaze.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Kundan Mandloi said the fire broke out between 3:30 am and 4:30 am. A child was reported missing and is being searched. Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh said a car was being charged outside the house when the explosion occurred, engulfing the building in flames.
Electronic locks on the house doors delayed rescue efforts, though three people trapped inside were saved. Nearly 10 persons were reportedly inside at the time, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarendra Singh.
Dr Arvind Ghanghoria, Dean of Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, confirmed the seven victims’ bodies were taken to the hospital. Two others rescued received first aid and left for treatment elsewhere. (Agencies)
