Srinagar, Dec 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case after a man was caught attempting to enter Srinagar International Airport using a forged air ticket, officials said on Saturday.

The incident came to light during routine security checks at the airport’s drop gate, where the individual, identified as Syed Khurshid Ahmad of Bugro, Khansahib in Budgam district, was stopped for verification. On examination, his air ticket was found to be fake, prompting airline staff to immediately alert the authorities.

Police said the accused was handed over to Police Post Humhama under Budgam Police jurisdiction and was subsequently arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had allegedly been duped by a travel agent who forged the ticket.

Accordingly, an FIR under Sections 336(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Budgam against the accused and the travel agent involved. Further investigation into the matter is underway, police added. (UNI)
