J&K: Security Forces Re-Establish Contact With Terrorists In Kishtwar, Op Underway
by Northlines · NorthlinesJammu, Jan 31: Security forces on Saturday re-established contact with terrorists holed up in the Dolgam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, with a joint anti-terror operation currently underway, officials said.
According to the Army, the operation was launched after coordinating intelligence inputs from multiple sources to ensure effective execution on the ground. The White Knight Corps said that during the ongoing joint Operation Trashi-I, troops of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) made contact with the terrorists in the early hours of January 31 in the general area of Dolgam.
A tight cordon has been laid around the area and search operations are continuing, the Army said, adding that the situation is being closely monitored. This marks the fourth instance in the past fortnight that security forces have established contact with terrorists in the same area, indicating sustained efforts to neutralise the threat.
Meanwhile, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma visited Kishtwar to review the counter-terrorism grid as the ongoing operation to eliminate a group of three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists continues. Officials said the senior commander assessed the ground situation and operational preparedness of the forces.
As a precautionary measure, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended within a six-kilometre radius of Singhpora, Chingam and Chatroo to prevent misuse by anti-national elements during the operation, officials added. (Agencies)
