Goa Nightclub Fire Case: Thai Authorities Deport Luthra Brothers to India
by Northlines · NorthlinesBangkok, Dec 16: Thai authorities on Tuesday deported Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub where 25 people were killed in a devastating fire on December 6, officials said.
The deportation follows an ongoing investigation into the deadly blaze at ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, which sparked nationwide outrage and raised serious questions over safety violations and management lapses.
The Luthra brothers had left India for Phuket shortly after the incident, prompting Indian authorities to seek international assistance. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice was subsequently issued against them.
They were detained by Thai authorities in Phuket on December 11 after intervention by the Indian mission, which remained in close coordination with the Thai government throughout the process. Videos circulating on social media showed the brothers at Bangkok airport ahead of their departure to India.
Upon arrival, the duo will be handed over to Indian authorities for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, Goa Police have already arrested five managers and staff members of the nightclub in connection with the case. (Agencies)
