One Killed as Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express Coaches Catch Fire in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam, Dec 29: One person was killed after two coaches of the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Express caught fire at Yalamanchili in Andhra Pradesh, around 66 km from Visakhapatnam, a senior police official said on Monday.
The official said information about the fire was received at around 12:45 am, following which emergency teams rushed to the spot.
At the time of the incident, one of the affected coaches had 82 passengers on board, while the other had 76 passengers, the official said. “Unfortunately, a dead body was recovered from the B1 coach,” he added.
The deceased was identified as Chandrsekhar Sundaram, police said.
Following the incident, the two damaged coaches were detached from the train, which later resumed its journey towards Ernakulam. Arrangements are being made to send the passengers from the affected coaches to their respective destinations, officials said.
Two forensic teams have been deployed to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, and further investigation is underway, the official added. (Agencies)
