Opposition MPs Protest Over Ram Temple Donations, Police Action Against Students

New Delhi, Aug 4: Opposition MPs, including Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Tuesday staged a protest in the Parliament complex over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya and “police excesses” against student protesters.

The MPs gathered near Makar Dwar carrying placards and raising slogans including “chhanda chor, gaddi chor” and “Amit Shah jawaab do”. They also placed donation boxes at the protest site to symbolise the alleged theft of donations at the temple, with some MPs putting cash into the boxes to represent donations.

Among those participating in the protest were Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav, TMC’s Sagarika Ghose, RJD’s Sanjay Yadav and Manoj Jha, and RSP’s NK Premchandran.

The protesters stood behind a large banner questioning the absence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from Parliament and raised slogans against him.

The INDIA bloc has decided to press the government on the alleged “chhanda chori” issue and the use of “brutal force” against students during protests last week.

Earlier, floor leaders of INDIA bloc parties met in Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge’s chamber in Parliament and resolved to raise both issues during the ongoing proceedings. (Agencies)
