RJD forced Congress to name its leader Bihar CM face by placing ‘Katta’ on head: PM Modi

Nawada, Nov 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing massive rallies in Bhojpur and Nawada on Sunday, accused the RJD of using coercive tactics to force the Congress into naming Tejashwi Yadav as the INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial candidate. He said the Congress “relented only after the RJD pointed a katta (country-made pistol) at its head,” symbolising the party’s legacy of “jungle raj” politics.

Modi said the Congress never wanted to back the RJD’s leadership in Bihar but succumbed to pressure. Without naming Rahul Gandhi or Tejashwi Yadav, he said, “The crown prince of jungle raj fears that the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ of the other yuvraj could hurt his prospects.” He predicted post-poll clashes within the alliance, citing friendly fights in several constituencies.

The PM asserted that the NDA would register a “record victory” and continue to deliver “upright and foresighted governance” for a Viksit Bharat. “The people of Bihar have not forgotten the era of jungle raj,” he said, calling the opposition’s manifesto “a dossier of lies,” in contrast to the NDA’s vision-oriented roadmap.

Highlighting development and employment, Modi envisioned a Bihar where youth would find opportunities at home instead of migrating. Recalling Bhojpur’s tradition of military service, he said national security remained central to his government. “Under One Rank One Pension, Rs 1 lakh crore has been disbursed to servicemen’s families,” he added.

Modi reaffirmed his “guarantee” of decisive governance — from scrapping Article 370 to Operation Sindoor, which he said showcased India’s resolve against terrorism. Taking a swipe at the Congress, he alleged its leaders “lost sleep” when Pakistan-based terror camps were bombed.

The PM also invoked the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, accusing the Congress of promoting those responsible for the carnage. Targeting Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, he claimed it was meant to “protect infiltrators who snatch Bihar’s resources.”

Referring to incidents during the RJD rule, Modi recalled the Tarari doctor’s abduction and the Naxal violence that once gripped Dalmia Nagar. He announced plans to develop Jagdishpur, the birthplace of freedom hero Veer Kunwar Singh, emphasizing that the NDA promotes growth “while preserving cultural heritage.”

He criticized the opposition for “mocking Indian traditions,” citing Congress leaders’ remarks on Chhath Puja, and urged Biharis returning home for the festival to “stay back and vote.”

Later in the evening, Modi held a massive roadshow in Patna, joined by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, BJP state chief Dilip Jaiswal and others, before visiting a gurdwara to offer prayers.
