‘No Mercy for Drug Cartels’, Shah Says Govt Committed to Fighting Drugs
by Northlines · NorthlinesNEW DELHI, Mar 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combat drug trafficking, stating that there would be “no mercy for drug cartels.” He highlighted the Narendra Modi-led government’s “bottom to top and top to bottom” approach in tackling the drug trade.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah announced that a massive consignment of methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 88 crore had been seized, and four members of an international drug cartel were arrested in Imphal and Guwahati zones.
“The drug haul is a testament to the stellar performance of the bottom-to-top and top-to-bottom approach to investigation,” Shah said, underlining the success of the government’s strategy. He also reiterated that efforts to fight drug trafficking would continue, emphasizing that the hunt for illegal drugs remains a top priority to ensure national security.
