Rajasthan: Two Arrested with 150 kg Ammonium Nitrate in Tonk
by Northlines · NorthlinesTonk, Dec 31: The District Special Team (DST) of Tonk police on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized around 150 kg of ammonium nitrate from their car during an operation in Rajasthan’s Tonk district, officials said.
The arrested accused were identified as Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi, both residents of Bundi district. Acting on a specific tip-off, the DST intercepted their vehicle in the Baroni police station area and recovered the explosive material concealed in sacks of urea fertiliser, DSP Mrityunjay Mishra said.
He said the accused were allegedly transporting the ammonium nitrate from Bundi to Tonk for supply. Besides the explosive material, police also seized 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire measuring about 1,100 metres. The vehicle used for transportation was also taken into custody.
DSP Mishra said the operation was carried out promptly following intelligence inputs. Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the explosive material, its intended use and possible links. Police are questioning the accused to ascertain whether the consignment was meant for illegal activities, including mining. (Agencies)
